Mike Azzopardi
Health Coach
Mike developed the current health coaching model after realizing his limitations as a physiotherapist. Patients often had other health issues in the areas of sleep, nutrition, and mental health that prevented them from achieving their movement goals within physiotherapy. Mike has always tried to provide a big picture, holistic approach to his patients. However, there was never enough time to address these big pieces of the puzzle within a short physiotherapy session. The solution was to introduce our health coaching service to provide individuals with a coach to sort through all the crazy amount of health information out there and prioritize evidence-informed action steps to guide individuals closer to their goals.
As a health coach, Mike takes off his physiotherapy hat and becomes your quarterback for your health journey. He has been treating patients from a movement lens for over 8 years (see physiotherapy bio for more details) but has been obsessed for the past 7 years about learning how the areas of sleep, nutrition, and mental health will affect movement and each other. He has finally prepared a health coaching model that fits seamlessly with what Inspire Health & Performance is trying to achieve: specific actionable steps that move people directly towards their goals.
Despite Mike’s background as a physiotherapist, he is not an expert in sleep, nutrition, and mental health. He has however spent countless hours learning about each of these areas in order to guide people towards a solid health foundation. He also has personally sought out help from other healthcare professionals, an invaluable experience that has shone light on some of the positive change we can make (e.g. adjusting our sleep schedule at night to have more energy during the day) as well as some of the negatives in the health care system (e.g. lack of communication between practitioners and narrow professional focuses). Mike knows his boundaries and most importantly has created a trusted team of health professionals around him. The health coaching service not only works with you to identify your next action steps but has a system in place to screen for when a referral to another healthcare professional is warranted. The goal is to always ensure his patients are on the most optimal path and that their best interests are always top of mind.
Mike is beyond excited to work with you towards your health goals.

Our Google Reviews
Since Mike helped my husband recover from and manage severe sciatic pain, I’ve been to him myself and have recommended him to multiple people. He is friendly, compassionate, considerate, and extremely passionate about his craft, and approaches physiotherapy from a total wellness perspective. I had issues with neck / shoulder pain and tension, as well as knee pain, and he helped me track the source of these issues from head to toe. He also took my entire lifestyle into consideration when building a program I could realistically execute. I trust him completely and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a physiotherapist.

I invited Mike from Inspire Performance to create and deliver a session on Wellness for the Rona Inc. Western Distribution network. Mike is knowledgeable, professional and easy to work with. He checked in often about the content of the presentation to ensure it was what we envisioned, and his communication was clear and timely. The content of the presentation was informative, concise and appealing to a diverse audience – he even developed a worksheet for the participants to work through during the presentation and it supported participant learning. I highly recommend Inspire Performance for their approach to wellness and their ability to engage learners on what can sometimes be an intimidating topic. Well done Mike and team!

Mike is a committed coach who really listens to and works with an athlete to accomplish their goals. He helps strike a balance between what you want to do (run all the kilometers in my case) and what your goal is (get to the start line healthy and hopefully fast). He cares a lot and is very invested in his clients.
I started working with Mike as a physiotherapist after several injuries and then he started coaching me back to running. With his help and plan, I accomplished my goal of getting back to running a sub 3 hour marathon after not running a marathon for 1.5 years. I ran a 2:56:51 marathon at the 2023 Saskatchewan Marathon and was the second place female! Working with Mike was important part of making this happen.

Over the years, I’ve had several physiotherapists due to sports injuries. Mike is knowledgeable and stays updated with the latest research. What also stood out to me was his holistic approach. Appreciate your support!
